Pricing
For most of our customers, Smart represents a
significant business investment. Even so, our prices are a fraction of
those charged for many systems which are much less capable than Smart,
and we expect that your investment will produce a return almost
immediately.
When considering the pricing below, please take a moment
to check out the savings and
benefits which are possible for your business.
These prices are current at January 2008 and subject to
change without notice.
Purchase v rental
- Purchase
gives you immediate ownership of your Smart system. Many
lease brokers are able to arrange software leases, enabling you to
spread the purchase cost. If you require ongoing support for your
purchased system, an annual support fee applies (see below).
- Renting
is instantly available (no credit checks are necessary) and bundles
your support fees into a single monthly payment which is slightly less
than a typical lease charge. At any time you can credit rental payments
made in your first 12 months against outright purchase of your Smart
system.

Licence Agreement
This agreement has import details which specify the
relationship between Skorpion and end users. Please read it here.
Support Agreement
When you purchase our
products you will be asked to enter into a support agreement at an
annual fee of 15% of the purchase price (adjusted for CPI). Although
this is not compulsory it entitles you to the following:
- Software upgrades. Our products continually change
and evolve and you will find that upgrades offer you new levels of
function and performance.
- Change requests (see Change Request Policy, below).
- Off-site support (i.e. support via phone, fax, or
email) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are proud of the quality of
our support and invite you to contact Skorpion customers to confirm
this.
Services not covered by a support agreement are chargeable at the
hourly rate shown above.
On Site Support
On site support
(i.e. the attendance of Skorpion staff at a location nominated by you)
is a chargeable service. The charge may be waived at Skorpion's
discretion where the principal purpose of the attendance is to discuss
the business relationship between you and Skorpion. Terms are
- No minimum charge.
- Time charged ex our local office (if any) or our
Sydney office if nearest, at standard hourly rate.
- Where time is for travel outside normal business
hours, Skorpion may elect to waive the charge.
- Where the location is more than 200km from
Skorpion's office, any necessary travel, accommodation, or meal
expenses will be charged at cost.
Change Request Policy
As your needs evolve and grow you may find that you
require a feature in one of our products which does not already exist
(although we may be able to meet your needs by adjusting your system
configuration).
- If you suggest a feature which we consider will be of
value or interest to other customers, we will add it to the product at
a time of our choosing (usually within about 6 months). There is no
charge for this change.
- If you require a feature which is specific to your
business and we we consider will not be of value
or interest to other customers, we will charge you a proportion of the
development cost and deliver the feature with the next scheduled
upgrade (usually within about 3 months).
- If you require the implementation of a new feature
immediately (for example to support the requirements of a new
customer), we will charge you our full development cost. Depending on
our workload and the size of the change it may be possible to deliver
the feature within a few days.
If you require exclusive
rights to the change requested (in other words, if you do not want
other Smart users to have access to it) the charge is double
the development cost.
Where a charge applies we will give you a fixed price
and obtain your approval before proceeding with the change.
Rental Agreement
You may purchase
software manufactured by Skorpion (but not hardware, or software
supplied by other parties) on a rental agreement. The terms are
- No credit check is applied
- Payment is required monthly, 3 months in advance.
- On receipt of payment you are provided with an
enabling code which allows the software to operate until the end of the
paid period.
- If your payments fall behind, the software will
continue to operate but you will not be able to add new items (e.g.
jobs or customers). You will be able to view, update, or print existing
information.
- The rental rate includes support fees (see above).
- You can convert a rental to a purchase at any time.
Payments made in the first 12 months will be credited against your
purchase. The purchase price will be the original price adjusted
annually for CPI.
- Your rental rate is adjusted annually by CPI change.

Escrow Agreement
If risk management is of concern to your business we
will be pleased to enter into an agreement whereby a copy of our source
code is held in escrow. This means that the source code is held by a
third party (usually a legal firm or escrow specialist) and released to
you should Skorpion become unable to continue support for your
installation.

change without notice unless a specific written offer or agreement has
been entered into.
- Prices exclude GST unless otherwise notified
- Ongoing charges adjusted annually for CPI.
