Comparing SmartNet and RemoteSmart

SmartNet

RemoteSmart

Overview

Provides a secure link between two or more Smart systems, enabling the exchange of jobs which are of interest to both parties.

Job requests which are keyed in on the first system and despatched or copied to the second system appear on the second operator's screen automatically. Changes made by either operator appear on the other operator's screen. No additional screens are required.

Since jobs are being copied between systems, they may be reported or billed just like locally generated jobs.

Neither operator has access to jobs in the other's system which do not concern them.

The information to be transferred (e.g. pricing) is configurable.

in effect, allows remote users to operate a Smart terminal on your network. It is similar in concept to using Terminal Server or PC Anywhere but provides higher security and does not require the client to purchase additional software.

The full functionality of Smart (with some minor cosmetic changes) is available to the remote user. However, the remote user may be restricted to seeing only those items, and performing only those functions, that concern them.

Although Smart data may be viewed by the remote user, it is not copied to or from their system, providing high levels of security.
