Alarm Monitoring System Integration

SMART includes a standard interface which is readily adaptable to most modern alarm monitoring systems (provided they utilise a SQL database), as well as SIMS. The interface eliminates duplicate data entry, accurately bills for your alarm monitoring, and (for most systems) enables a monitoring operator to create a job in Smart without leaving the monitoring window.

The SMART Alarm Monitoring Interface is an extra cost option. It must be installed and configured by your Smart consultant (this work can be done remotely if your monitoring system has a secure remote link).

The standard interface operates as follows (features which are specific to ADSW or SIMS are described on those pages):

- the sites (also known as accounts, or clients) in your alarm monitoring system are automatically copied to the Smart Locations table. The changes you make in your alarm monitoring system are immediately copied to Smart.

- changes which require attention by a Smart operator appear in the Alarm Monitoring Change Log (select \Operations \Alarm monitoring interface from the Main Menu).  These include alarms which have been added, where the status has changed (e.g. now offline) or where billing and customer details have not been specified. The operator simply works down the list to resolve any issues.

After the operator has worked through the change log, all alarm monitoring and other work will be billed correctly.

- for most alarms, a Smart job can be created by the alarm response operator without opening Smart.
